Personal Experience: Having Botox for Bruxism

Hi, I’m Laura Henry. I’m 26 year old, currently living in Nottingham. I’d like to share my experience of having Botox. As we’ve heard about Botox for curing aging lines and wrinkles, but I’ve had it for totally different reasons.

Few months back I started to notice a peculiar damage to my teeth as if they’d been grinding. My partner told me that I’d been clenching my teeth all night. I thought he was joking but when I noticed that my teeth were been wrecked even more severely, I finally decided to look for a solution.

I bought a mouth guard, which really helped me in protecting my teeth from grinding. However, I was still clenching my teeth during sleep and in the morning I started to feel pain on the sides of my face.
I looked up for a solution on the internet and discovered that I was suffering from nocturnal bruxism. I was surprised as I never expected to be suffering from this issue before. However, my search to solve this problem continued.

I discussed my issue with people who have already had this issue. Few of them suggested that I should have a go for Botox as they have had much needed relief by having this remedy. At first it sound weird, but I went for it. I visited a private Botox clinic in Nottingham, where I first had a free of charge consultation session. I was pleased to see the reception I received from the staff. The doctor guided me about how the procedure is done, and asked about my medical history.

The procedure started with application of topical anaesthesia. The doctor injected Botox on specific facial areas. The procedure hardly took 10 minutes. Those injections were slightly painful but all I wanted was to get rid of bruxism.

The first week after having Botox was strange. I had bruising and swelling at those areas where injections were made. In the second week, those complications faded and began to notice change. I felt much relieved in the third week as I did not feel pain after waking up afterwards. My partner was no longer complaining about me clenching all night.

I’d like to say thanks to my friends who gave me that valuable advice. The results are temporary but I’d never mind to pay another visit.
